Cyclists set to boost ODC funds

I’m sure many of you will have heard of the Couch to 5km training plan? The idea is to transform you from ‘couch potato’ to ‘runner’, getting you running three miles (or 5k) on a regular basis in just two months…

We welcomed over 80 riders for the 50-miler and some 60 for the family ride including many children.

Many stayed for the bar and BBQ with marquee on Over Green afterwards, entertained (with further residents swelling the throng to around 150) by the excellent music of Mystery Train and Cat Pawsey.

The event generated some £3,500, an amazing result that left tears in our eyes!

Willingham Wheels 10th Anniversary Sportive in association with Swavesey and Over Cycling Club

16th June 2019 in aid of Over Day Centre, starting from there and finishing on Over Green for BBQ, bar and rock band.  50 Mile Challenge and
Family 8.5 Miles Registration details to follow.

£20 donation per rider requested for the longer ride (50 Mile Challenge) - waymarked and mechanically and medically supported. Family 8.5 miler with a gazebo with cake at the turnaround point. Requested donation £10 per family.

The start of another epic cycling holiday in the alps, this time using electric power on the ascents. A revelation!

Sofa to 50k successfully completed!
Congratulations to Cherie Davies, David Davies, Philip Hopcroft, Josh Palfreyman, Nic Palfreyman, Fiona McGuckin* and Steve Webster* on completing our inaugural "Sofa to 50k" training programme, culminating with a 50km ride that took in the formidable (for Cambridgeshire!) Barrington Hill (Chapel Hill in Haslingfield) in both directions. Thanks on behalf of all at the club to Nigel Leaney for all the organising, preparing the routes, the certificates and the lion's share of the ride leads.

80 mile Tour of Cambridge duly completed by Les, Graham and Paul in unbelievable times. Peloton effect maximised, could have been even better if dehydration had not set in. For full results ....
