RideLondon2 - Ken bows out on the crest of a wave.

Woke late and had a refreshing bath. Still have the buzz from yesterday in my head, though not sure if my legs will catch up for a couple of days.

Do you remember when you were young, Cilla was in her heyday, and you first heard Sgt. Peppers LHCB? 1967. It came out shortly before I was sweet sixteen when my head was filled with O-level results and I was pondering what life would have in store for a young lad from the Boro.

Nigel's Help for Heroes Blog

Dunwich Dynamo 2015

"Somewhere during the night you will hear a voice say, ‘Why am I doing this? I am never doing this again!’ Look forward to this voice. Welcome it. Laugh at it. Embrace it. Look forward to hearing it again next year. Just know that it will come and that you will ride past it and be stronger when it fades into the shadows."

Yes, it’s hard to explain why you do the Dunwich Dynamo, and even harder to explain why you go on doing it. But we (probably) will.

Sky Ride Leader Nigel Makes the News

Nigel Leaney had a long time away from the saddle, but in 2008 he got back on his bike – and hasn’t looked back since.

Cambridge-based Nigel was keen to spend more time with his children, and found their joint passion for cycling allowed all the family to enjoy some quality time together.

Tour of Cambridge - Gran Fondo

Wonderful Day
Registered Friday and in the end we had eleven Willingham Wheels members - Dom, Robin, Roger, Mike, Noel, Chris, Les, Graham, Richard, Ken and Paul - all sporting the new kit.
We all met at Cambridge Services on the Sunday, then off in a convoy to Peterborough Show Ground, ten four.

(the stats are from my mate Alan, who is rather better than I).

I was keen to check out Leith Hill and Box Hill in advance of this year's event, as they were cut from the course last year due to bad weather.

Mont Ventoux - the Twin Peaks

Click on the photo for more. The scene is of a monument to cycling outside Bedoin, with the misty Mont Ventoux in the distant background.
Stardate 13th to 20th September 2014, having landed in a villa in Carpentras, Provence, la belle France. Lidl 200 metres away. Bakery ditto. Perfect seclusion, despite the vicinity of such a useful commercial zone. Swimming pool (bit cool) and table tennis (not touched). Fantastic spirit with everyone mucking in with shopping and food prep.
