Report: Fen Edge Exodus Sunday 6th July

A long caravan of yellow was seen on the Guided Busway around noon on 6th July as the 65-plus Fen Edge Family Exodus riders in their “Maillots Jaunes” made their way from Longstanton to Parkers Piece to enjoy the pre-Tour-de-France Velo Festival. The weather was perfect and the ride was incident-free (the Busway authorities will be pleased, and to them a special thanks for giving us permission to stage the ride). Everyone appeared to enjoy the travelling company, the 8.5 miles of gently changing scenery and the much merited beer at the end of the ride (other refreshments were available – in fact, Parkers Piece was buzzing). With the cost of poster printing and marshal bibs covered by a gratefully received Velo Festival grant from Cambridge County Council, the event raised over £470 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, the official TdF charity. So a huge thanks to everyone from the organisers, Willingham Wheels.
Anyone moved to donate to this wonderful charity (Marie Curie, not Willingham Wheels!) can still do so online at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/FenEdgeExodus
