Keep it Slow – Keep it Safe Campaign

Last year two horses and riders from Witcham Equestrian Centre were involved in a horrific accident

Fortunately – and miraculously – both riders and horses have recovered. However, as a result of this accident the team at Witcham have put together a campaign /Keep it slow- Keep it safe/ to raise the funds required to provide extended speed limit signs at both ends of the village and to promote harmony in rural communities so as to create safer roads for all: drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and riders.

The Keep it slow - Keep it safe campaign has already featured on local radio and TV and there are a number of activities organised in the coming months. There's Patsy's (one of the horses involved in the accident) Pop-up Tea-room at Witcham Equestrian Centre between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm on Saturday 14th April, Saturday 12th May, Sunday 3rd June and Saturday 14th July. It would be great if road users could get out there for one of these and stop for a piece of cake and a cuppa. In addition, a talk has been arranged on Promoting Harmony in Rural Communities to Create Safer Roads to be held on Saturday 21st April in the Witcham Village Hall 7.00 - 9.00pm. A leading member of the local police force has agreed to speak and also someone from the British Horse Society. Witcham has also invited a cycling club member to come and talk about road use from a cyclist's perspective. The issues they face and ways they could work with other users to create safer roads for all.

Any support and help would be really appreciated.
